A small cross pattée surmounts the central element at the top. Flanking symbols, including what appear to be small crosses or pellets, are scattered across the field. The entire composition is set within a beaded border on an irregularly shaped flan. The reverse style reflects the transitional Merovingian-to-Carolingian artistic tradition of the Paris mint under Pepin the Short. |
