| Obverse description | Royal monogram of Pepin the Short composed of the interlaced letters R, P, and N in the field, surmounted by a horizontal bar with pellet terminals. The monogram is rendered in a bold, archaic Carolingian style characteristic of early Frankish coinage. The coin's border features a partial beaded or pellet rim, visible along the upper portion of the flan. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, as typical of hammered silver deniers of this period. No additional legend appears on the obverse. |
