Obverse description Central field features a plain cross pattée with a pellet in each angle, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend in Latin majuscules reads + PIPINVS REX EQ, identifying Pepin as king of the Aquitains. The coin is struck on an irregular flan typical of Carolingian hammered silver issues, with the legend distributed around the full circumference between the inner beaded circle and the coin's edge.

Reverse description Central field bears a stylized temple or church facade with a triangular pediment surmounting a rectangular body divided by horizontal lines and four vertical columns, a design widely identified as the 'XPISTIANA RELIGIO' temple type derived from the Carolingian monetary reform. The surrounding Latin legend + XPISTIΛNΛ RELIGIO, rendered in majuscules, proclaims the Christian religion. The design, adapted from the type introduced under Louis the Pious, fills the flan to the beaded border, consistent with Carolingian workshop practice.
