| Beschrijving keerzijde | A plain cross with splayed arms is centrally positioned within a raised beaded circle, the field between the arms displaying small cross pattée ornaments radiating outward toward the legend, giving the reverse a distinctly cruciform decorative character. The mint name legend surrounds the beaded circle in the outer annular field, rendered in bold capital Latin letters. This reverse type, with multiple cross motifs filling the field, is a diagnostic feature of the Limoges mint production under Pepin II of Aquitaine. The flan edges are irregular, reflecting the hand-hammered technique, and the relief is bold and well-defined despite light surface wear. |
