| Obverse description | Central field features a stylized cross with splayed or fleurée terminals, typical of feudal French hammered coinage of the late 12th to early 13th century. The cross divides the field into four quarters. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading the name and title of the issuing count. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-struck medieval production. Surface shows characteristic patination and wear associated with long circulation. |
