Reverse description A plain cross with fleurs-de-lis at the extremities of each arm occupies the central field, enclosed within a raised inner circle. This lilied cross is characteristic of the Parisis monetary tradition and the royal fleur-de-lis heraldry of the French crown. The peripheral legend PARISIVS CIVIS, rendered in Gothic uncial characters, identifies the Paris mint. The flan shows the typical irregular, slightly cracked fabric of a hammered medieval billon piece.
