Obverse description A bold equal-armed cross, its base anchored to a large pellet or ringlet at the foot, occupies the central field. The cross arms are rendered in a robust, slightly irregular hammered style characteristic of early Merovingian coinage. Four pellets are disposed one in each quarter formed by the arms of the cross, filling the field symmetrically. The entire design is contained within an irregularly shaped flan with no surrounding legend.
