| Obverse description | Frontal bust of a crowned ruler, identified as Ottokar I, depicted in a stylized Romanesque manner characteristic of Bohemian deniers of the late 12th century. The figure wears a diadem or crown, with the facial features rendered in a primitive but expressive style. Small cross motifs flank the bust within the field. Ottokar I's first reign as Duke of Bohemia lasted barely a year. He was installed in 1192 through the backing of Holy Roman Emperor Henry VI, then deposed in 1193 when Henry switched support to his rival Jindřich Břetislav. Coins attributable to this window are among the most historically compressed issues in Bohemian medieval numismatics — the entire type had to be struck, circulated, and superseded within roughly twelve months.
