正面描述 Full-length frontal effigy of a standing margrave in regal attire, holding a bird — possibly a falcon or stylized eagle — in each outstretched hand, emblematic of sovereign authority. Beneath each bird, a helmet is depicted in the lower field, reinforcing the martial and princely character of the design. The figure is rendered in the flat, linear style characteristic of 13th-century German bracteate-influenced pfennig coinage. The composition is centrally placed within the irregular flan typical of hammered medieval silver issues.

附加信息

Otto IV and Otto V ruled Brandenburg jointly for much of the late thirteenth century, a co-regency arrangement that was itself a product of the fragmented succession politics of the Ascanians following the death of John I in 1266. Joint issues of this kind — two rulers sharing a single coin type — were administratively convenient but chronologically awkward, which is precisely why the attribution window runs a full decade.

The Bahrf. 565 / Dann Br. 111 reference places this squarely within the Brandenburg denier series that preceded the region's adoption of heavier pfennig coinage in the following century.
