| 背面描述 | The reverse displays a centrally placed heraldic shield bearing the Brandenburg eagle, rendered in a stylized Gothic manner with incised internal detailing. Flanking the base of the shield and extending into the lower field are two symmetrical trefoil or clover-like plant motifs, adding decorative balance to the composition. The shield is presented frontally without a surrounding legend, consistent with the anonymous reverse types common to Brandenburg deniers of this period. The hammered flan gives the coin a slightly irregular outline, typical of hand-struck medieval coinage. |

Otto IV ruled Brandenburg from 1266 until his death in 1308, a reign marked by constant territorial skirmishing with the Archbishop of Magdeburg and recurring conflicts over toll rights along the Elbe. These deniers were struck during a particularly contentious stretch when Otto was actively expanding Brandenburg's monetary infrastructure to finance military and diplomatic pressure on his neighbors. The bracteate tradition dominant in the region was giving way to thicker bilateral types, and this issue sits in that transitional window.
