Obverse description Central field features the name OTTO arranged in the form of a cross, with the letters disposed in four arms radiating from a central annulet, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend, composed of bold raised Latin capitals in the characteristic Ottonian monogram style, reads OTTO IMPERATOR. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, typical of hammered medieval silver coinage, with the devices struck in relatively high relief against a plain field.
