正面铭文 + EVDES DVX
(Translation: Odo, duke...)
背面描述 Castle Tournois depicted in the center of the field, rendered in the schematic Gothic style characteristic of feudal Burgundian deniers, with a central tower flanked by two smaller turrets, each surmounted by a small circular finial. The letters BG appear in the field below the castle, serving as a mint or workshop mark. A circular border encloses the central device, with the Latin legend surrounding it along the periphery of the irregularly shaped flan.

附加信息

Odo IV ruled Burgundy through inheritance from his mother Agnes, herself daughter of Robert II, and spent much of his reign attempting to consolidate ducal authority against persistent baronial resistance. The denier series attributed to his reign was almost certainly produced to fund the administrative and military costs of that consolidation — Burgundian billon issues of this period are workmanlike products of regional mints operating under ducal warrant, not centralized royal control. The Dumas classification distinguishes at least two die variants within this type, which hints at sustained production across several years rather than a single mint run.
