| Obverse description | A plain cross pattée divides the field into four quarters, with pellets ornaments occupying the second and third quarters. The design is executed in a crude, early medieval hammered style characteristic of feudal French deniers. A partially legible Latin legend surrounds the central cross along the coin's periphery, much of which is worn or off-flan. The flan is irregular in shape, consistent with hand-struck production of the period. |
