Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, the letters OΔO are arranged in a triangular monogram around a central pellet, rendered in the Carolingian tradition of royal name monograms. A cross pattée precedes the outer circular legend, which reads OΔO GRΛTIΛ D-I REX, invoking the Dei Gratia Rex formula proclaiming Odo king by the grace of God. The lettering employs a mixture of Greek delta (Δ) and Lambda (Λ) forms alongside Latin characters, characteristic of late Carolingian epigraphy. The flan is irregular, as is typical of hammered coinage of this period.
