Obverse description Central cross composed of five pellets enclosed within a small inner quadrilobe, flanked by four small crosslets in the angles. The entire motif is further enclosed within a larger beaded quadrilobe, creating a layered, ornamental composition characteristic of mid-11th-century Low Countries deniers. The field between the two quadrilobes is plain. The overall design reflects the Ottonian decorative tradition prevalent in the regional coinage of Brabant.
