Obverse description Stylized radiate bust facing right in debased late antique style, with radiating spikes rendered as bold wedge-shaped lines above the head. The portrait is schematically executed in the Merovingian tradition, with summary facial features typical of late 7th-century Frankish coinage. The circular Latin legend + PECTAVIS (denoting the mint of Poitiers) runs around the periphery of the irregularly struck flan.
