| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse displays a monogram composed of the letters P, T, R, and E, forming an interlaced or conjoined design denoting PTRE, an abbreviation for Treveris (Trier), the mint city. A plain horizontal bar surmounts the monogram, a convention common in Merovingian and early Carolingian denier coinage to denote ecclesiastical authority.
