Obverse description Facing crowned bust of King Louis X in low relief, rendered in a crude medieval style typical of hammered billon deniers. The king is depicted with a simple crown adorned with fleurs, facing forward with stylized facial features. The surrounding legend reads LVDOVICVS REX, distributed around the inner field. The portrait occupies the central area of the coin with the legend arranged in a circular band along the periphery.
