| Beschrijving keerzijde | A plain Greek-style cross with equal arms occupies the central field, set within a beaded inner circle. The cross is rendered in bold raised relief, its arms extending nearly to the inner border. Surrounding the beaded circle, a Latin legend in capitals identifies the mint city. The flan edges are markedly irregular, and the strike, while reasonably well-centered on this example, exhibits the characteristic flatness of early medieval hammered silver deniers. The overall style is consistent with Carolingian royal coinage of the late ninth century. |
