Reverse description Central field displays a plain cross pattée set within a beaded inner circle, mirroring the obverse type. The cross divides the inner field into four equal quadrants, consistent with standard Carolingian denier typology. The surrounding annular legend, introduced by a cross pommée, reads TOLVSA CIVI in Carolingian Latin majuscules, identifying Toulouse as the city of issue. Wedge-shaped radiating elements between the legend and the outer rim echo the decorative treatment of the obverse. The flan is slightly irregular in outline, consistent with the hand-hammered production technique of the period.
