Reverse description The mint name DORESTATUS is boldly displayed across the entire reverse field in three horizontal lines of large, deeply struck Roman capital letters, reading DOR / ES·TA / TVS·, with pellet stops separating certain elements. The lettering fills the flan to its edges, leaving virtually no open field, a layout typical of Carolingian temple-type or monogram-type place-name deniers. The outer rim is bounded by a plain or lightly beaded border consistent with the irregular flan shape produced by hand-hammering.
