| Reverse description | The reverse displays the mint name of Bordeaux divided across two lines in large, bold Carolingian capital letters: BVRDI on the upper line and GALA on the lower, together forming BVRDIGALA, the Latin designation for Bordeaux. The inscription fills the flat field of the coin, with no additional ornamental device. The entire design is enclosed within a plain beaded border. The flan is irregular and somewhat thinner than the obverse, consistent with the hand-struck technique employed at Carolingian provincial mints of this era. |
