Reverse description A royal or abbatial monogram, formed from interlaced letters, occupies the centre of a beaded inner circle. The monogram is composed of bold, deeply struck strokes characteristic of Carolingian chancery script. A circular Latin legend runs in the outer field, separated from the inner beaded circle, beginning with a cross pattée. The reverse displays the typical ecclesiastical monetary attribution formula of a 10th-century Frankish abbey denier.
