| Beschrijving keerzijde | The mint name PAPIA (the Latin designation for Pavia) is inscribed in a single horizontal line across the centre of the field, executed in large, bold capital letters occupying the full width of the flan. The field above and below the inscription is plain and unadorned, with a slightly granular surface typical of worn hammered silver. The irregular flan edges and flat, unframed treatment of the reverse are consistent with standard Carolingian denier production at the Pavia mint during the reign of Lothair I. |
