Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a stylized tree occupies the upper portion of the field, its branches spreading laterally. Beneath the tree, a lion passant to the right with head turned back to the left is depicted in relief, rendered in the crude but vigorous style characteristic of Austrian bracteate-influenced pfennigs of the early 13th century. The overall composition fills the flan with no legend or inscription.
