Additional information

Leopold VI ruled the Duchy of Austria and Styria simultaneously from 1194, making his court at Vienna one of the wealthiest in the German-speaking world — funded substantially by the ransom he extracted for releasing Richard I of England, whom his father Leopold V had captured in 1192. The denier coinage issued across his long reign reflects that prosperity, with Vienna emerging as a serious minting center during this period.

CNA B120 deniers are frequently found with irregular flans and off-center strikes, a characteristic of Alpine minting practice rather than evidence of specific die failure.
