| Obverse description | Facing or three-quarter bust of Bishop Lambert rendered in a schematic Romanesque style, turned to the right, holding a crozier whose staff crosses the beaded inner circle at the base of the design. The figure is depicted in episcopal vestments with strongly stylised drapery. The surrounding legend, executed in uncial characters, runs along the outer border of the flan. The overall die engraving is characteristic of the crude but expressive hammered coinage of the early twelfth-century Low Countries ecclesiastical mints. |
