Additional information

Ladislaus V — Ladislaus Postumus — was literally born after his father Albert II died in 1439, which triggered an immediate succession crisis. János Hunyadi governed as regent while the infant king remained largely under Habsburg control, and the deniers struck in his name during 1442–1444 were issued amid active Ottoman pressure on Hungary's southern frontier, including Hunyadi's own campaigns that culminated in the Long Campaign of 1443. Coinage authority during a contested regency was itself a political act.
