| Beschrijving keerzijde | An eagle displayed in the field, depicted in a highly stylised and angular manner characteristic of medieval Polish hammered deniers. The eagle, emblem of the Piast and Jagiellonian dynastic tradition, occupies the central field with wings spread. The Latin inscription REX, denoting the royal title of the issuer, appears in the field. The strike is typical of the period, with an irregular flan and variable depth of relief. |

Ladislaus II — born Jogaila of Lithuania — came to the Polish throne through the Union of Krewo in 1385, a dynastic arrangement that also committed him to converting Lithuania to Christianity and proved one of the more consequential political bargains of medieval Central Europe. His coinage reflects the administrative consolidation that followed, with the Kraków mint functioning as the primary instrument of royal monetary authority during a reign that stretched across nearly five decades and two major conflicts with the Teutonic Knights, including Grunwald in 1410.
Kop#352 deniers are frequently encountered with weak central strikes, a known consequence of the thin fabric and shallow dies used at Kraków for this denomination.
