Obverse description Crowned bust of Duke Władysław I Herman facing left, rendered in the primitive Romanesque style typical of late 11th-century Polish coinage. The ruler's effigy is depicted with schematic facial features including a pronounced eye and stylized hair, wearing a crown with fleur-de-lis or cross finials. The surrounding field is filled with the retrograde or irregular Latin legend VLADISLAVS, the letters distributed around the bust in a manner characteristic of early Piast dynasty deniers. The die-cutting is bold and naïve in execution, consistent with the Kraków mint workshop of this period.
