| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field displays a crowned eagle's head or heraldic device associated with the Kalisz mint, rendered in the rough, stylized manner characteristic of mid-14th-century Polish provincial hammered deniers. The design shows a crowned motif in high relief against a flat field, with visible die-cutting details typical of Gothic workshop production. A surrounding legend in Latin uncial script reads + MONETA KALIS, identifying this as the money of Kalisz. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, consistent with the hammered technique employed at the Kalisz mint during the reign of Casimir III. The overall execution reflects the modest artistic standards of small-denomination Polish coinage of this period. |
