Reverse description A plain cross with splayed arms is depicted at the center of the coin within a beaded inner circle, a standard motif on Ottonian-period papal deniers. The cross divides the inner field into four quarters, each plain. A circular Latin legend naming Emperor Otto surrounds the beaded border. The strike is characteristically crude and irregular, consistent with hammered production of the late tenth century.
