Obverse description Within a beaded border, a schematic frontal figure of a bishop rendered in a crude, stylized manner, holding a crozier in the right hand and a book (bible) in the left. The episcopal vestments are suggested by simple linear engraving. The design occupies the full field of the flan, characteristic of hammered medieval ecclesiastical coinage.
