Joint-rule coinage from the German margraviates is rarely tidy in its chronology, and the overlap between political reality and mint production makes precise dating within the 1250–1266 window genuinely difficult. Brandenburg's deniers of this period were central to commerce along the Havel and Spree river corridors, where the Ascanians were aggressively consolidating control over Slavic territories east of the Elbe.
