Obverse description Central field features a plain cross with a small pellet or annulet in each of the four angles formed by the arms, characteristic of Ponthieu feudal coinage. The cross extends nearly to the inner border, dividing the field into four quarters. A beaded or rope inner circle surrounds the cross motif. The peripheral legend, rendered in uncial characters, reads IOHANES COMES, identifying the issuing count. The overall style is consistent with mid-twelfth-century northern French hammered billon coinage.

Reverse description The reverse displays a stylised fleur-de-lis or floriated cross device at the centre, set within a beaded inner circle, a typical ornamental motif on feudal deniers of the Ponthieu region. Small annulets or pellets appear in the angles of the central design. The peripheral legend in uncial Latin script reads ABBATISVILE, identifying the mint city of Abbeville. The legend is arranged around the full circumference within a beaded border. The die work and fabric are consistent with irregular hammered production of the period.
