Obverse description Central field bears a plain Greek cross with equal arms, set within a beaded inner circle. The cross divides the field into four quadrants, each showing a pellet or annulet ornament. The surrounding legend reads ✠ INES VICECOHES (John, Viscount), struck in Latin characters. The flan is irregular and slightly cupped, typical of hammered feudal billon coinage. The overall style is characteristic of medieval southern French seigneurial deniers of the early fourteenth century.
