| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a similar ornate cross design at center, enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with star or lozenge-shaped decorative elements filling the four quadrants, consistent with the denaro terzolo scodellato typology of the Milan mint. A further beaded outer border frames the entire composition. The field legend MEDIOLANV, an abbreviated form of MEDIOLANUM (the Latin name for Milan), identifies the issuing mint. The hammered flan is concave and irregular, typical of the scyphate fabric used in northern Italian imperial coinage of the early twelfth century. |
