Obverse description The obverse presents a central geometric motif composed of a lozenge within a multi-pointed star or cross-like design, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The field surrounding this central device is occupied by the circular legend. The overall composition is characteristic of early medieval Carolingian-tradition deniers, struck with irregular flan and variable die alignment. The lettering is rendered in a rustic Latin capital script typical of late Carolingian minting practice. A cross pattée serves as the initial mark preceding the legend.
