Obverse description Central field occupied by a plain cross pattée, with a pellet placed in each of the first two upper angles formed by the arms of the cross. The cross is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, separating it from the surrounding legend. The outer legend reads CENTVLLO COM` in Roman capitals, distributed around the periphery between the inner beaded circle and an outer beaded border, attributing the coinage to Centule, Count of Béarn. The overall design follows the standard Carolingian denier typology, with robust lettering characteristic of feudal minting practice.
