Obverse description A plain cross occupies the central field, flanked in the third quarter by an alpha and in the fourth quarter by an omega, referencing the Christian symbolic tradition. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The peripheral legend, separated by a cross pattée, reads FVLCO COMES, identifying the issuing count. The overall style is characteristic of Carolingian-derived feudal coinage, executed in low relief on an irregular flan typical of hammered billon deniers of the period.
