Reverse description A plain cross pattée divides the reverse field into four equal quadrants, with a small crosslet or ornament appearing above the upper arm of the cross. The cross is contained within a beaded inner circle, beyond which the circular legend runs with pellet stops separating the abbreviated words. The design follows the standard feudal denier typology of the period, with the bold cross serving both a religious and heraldic function. The flat, unadorned quadrants and the raised beaded border are consistent with hammered billon coinage of the Dauphiné region.
