Obverse description Central plain cross with slightly expanding arms set within a beaded inner circle, the whole surrounded by a circular legend in Latin majuscules. The hammered flan is irregular in outline, and the relief is characteristically flat and worn, consistent with tenth-century Carolingian-derived feudal coinage. The beaded border frames both the inner device and the surrounding inscription.

Reverse description Two lines of Latin legend arranged horizontally across the field, separated by a central beaded line, with small crosslets flanking the inscription above and below. The text identifies the issuing city of Paris and is contained within a beaded outer border. The hammered flan displays the characteristic irregular shape and shallow relief typical of feudal French deniers of the mid-tenth century.
