Obverse description Central field dominated by a tall Latin cross with splayed arms, the vertical shaft prominently elongated. The legend HERIMANVS is distributed in two lines across the horizontal arms of the cross, reading HE-RI to the left and MA-NVS to the right, with the name divided by the cross shaft. A small patriarchal or Maltese cross appears in the upper left quadrant of the field. The whole design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the outer legend CRISTIANARELIGIO partially visible around the periphery on the irregular flan, characteristic of eleventh-century Rhenish hammered coinage.
