| 裏面の説明 | A stylised altar or shrine depicted centrally, upon which stands a bull or ox in profile facing left, surmounted by a patriarchal cross; flanking the altar are two decorative rosette or floral motifs. Below the altar, a plain horizontal bar with a row of pellets is visible, and at the base of the design a small cross pattée appears. Two additional figures or architectural elements flank the composition at lower left and right, all enclosed within a plain inner circle. The overall design is executed in the flat, symbolic Romanesque engraving style characteristic of Alsatian episcopal deniers of the mid-eleventh century. |
