The shield is framed by an ornamental border of curved foliate or branch elements, lending a decorative surround to the armorial device. A border of large globular pellets encircles the entire design along the coin's periphery, typical of hammered deniers of the period. No legend is present on this side, the dynastic identification conveyed entirely through the heraldic imagery. |
