Reverse description A prominent heraldic shield of late medieval form occupies the central field, bearing the eight-pointed star of Waldeck rendered in bold relief with elongated points radiating from the centre. The shield is framed by an ornamental border of curved foliate or branch elements, lending a decorative surround to the armorial device. A border of large globular pellets encircles the entire design along the coin's periphery, typical of hammered deniers of the period. No legend is present on this side, the dynastic identification conveyed entirely through the heraldic imagery.
