Obverse description Facing crowned bust of Emperor Henry IV in frontal effigy, rendered in the crude but expressive Romanesque style typical of late 11th-century German bracteate-era coinage. The emperor holds a scepter in his right hand and an orb in his left, both attributes of imperial authority. The bust is depicted with stylized drapery and a prominent crown, occupying the central field. A partial Latin legend encircles the effigy, reading HEINR[ICVS] or a contracted form thereof, identifying the issuing monarch.
