Obverse description Facing right crowned royal effigy rendered in a schematic, archaic style typical of Ottonian-Salian coinage. The bust is depicted with a stylized crown adorned with pellets, and the shoulders are indicated by angular drapery lines below. The surrounding field is filled with fragmented Latin legend. The die-cutting shows the bold, rough craftsmanship characteristic of early 11th-century German hammered silver pennies.
