Henry II, Duke of Bavaria — later Holy Roman Emperor Henry II — controlled Regensburg during a decade when the city functioned as one of the most commercially active mints east of the Rhine. His coinage from this period reflects the broader Ottonian monetary reorganization, where regional lords were granted or assumed striking rights with varying degrees of imperial sanction.
