Reverse description A bold cross pattée occupies the center of the field, with a large pellet or globule placed in each of the four angles formed by the arms of the cross, a design motif common to Brabantine deniers of the late 12th and early 13th centuries. The cross is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with four additional annulets or small rings positioned at the cardinal points between the legend and the inner circle. The Latin legend surrounding the design reads HENRICVS DVX, identifying the issuer as Duke Henry I of Brabant.
